Store Visit: Wee Babe in Brooklyn

Wee Babe's sign says "Where the fun begins." Who has the most fun in there is up for debate. This pint-sized super store packs all the practical, stylish items that has made it a must-shop boutique for new moms. Located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, owners Beau and Selina stock an exhaustive display of premier strollers, baby carriers, leg warmers for baby and hand warmers for mom and dad, and everything in between.

The day we visited the store was bustling with a grandmother and some local mothers coming in for everything from cloth diaper covers to the newest toddler toys. It was too cute! While Selina handled customers, Beau was working on the website for this store, which isn't even a year old! Workshops and events were being scheduled for the spring in the backyard area, which in this city neighborhood, is a huge plus.

Selina took time when the store wasn't so busy to show me around the strollers. There was a great one from Stokke on early display at the front, but really a new mom couldn't go wrong in here. A veteran of the baby business, Selina has years of experience to draw upon when she vets products and when she makes a recommendation. She asks all the tough questions and gets all the right resources so car seats are properly installed and so strollers go the distance, smoothly and without breaking mama's back.

Wee Babe works with local designers and supports as many green toys and products as the walls will hold. Some of my favorite include the stroller pads made in vibrant colors and patterns, with a super plush underside that can withstand strolls down the rough terrain of New York City, without waking or chafing tender baby skin. Selina remarked that the skull pattern stroller pad is one of their best sellers--definitely reflective of all the hipsters turning mothers in this artsy part of town!

One of the other great newborn finds was this Leaf baby lounger by Nuna. Selina showed me the organic cotton liner, showed me the lovely way it flows back and forth with the baby's actions. Baby gets to float on her Leaf and mommy gets a quiet moment: sounds like a win-win. You may want to put this item on your registry.

Wee Babe added our labor gowns to their store's stock list almost from day one and we're so proud! With two moms in the know, and one with a long history of professional baby knowledge, we're flattered to be part of the Wee Babe story. You should check out their Facebook page now, and put this powerhouse boutique on your list of places to visit when you're in Brooklyn. With all the shops, cafes, bakeries and with one of the most amazing cheese shops right around the corner, you'll be happy you did! And look for the Pretty Pushers gowns right there, by the front door ;)
